We are pleased to share that, effective 1 September 2026, Bedfords Legal has merged with Brightstone Legal, an award-winning Australian law firm with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
The merger brings together two firms with complementary strengths, while allowing Bedfords to continue the relationships, local presence and personal service that our clients have known and trusted for many years.
For our clients, the most important things will remain the same.
Bedfords Legal will continue to operate under the Bedfords name from our Woden office. Mark Tigwell and Kelly Huskisson will continue to work with and support our clients as they have done for many years.
Bedfords has a long history in the Canberra legal community, advising individuals, families and businesses across the ACT. We are proud of the reputation and trusted client relationships we have built, particularly in Wills & Estates, Estate Planning, Commercial Law and Private Client matters.
The merger with Brightstone allows us to build on that foundation.
Our clients will continue to receive the personal, practical and trusted service they know from Bedfords, while also benefiting from access to a larger supporting team and a broader range of legal expertise across Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.
Where our clients require assistance beyond Bedfords’ traditional areas of practice, the combined firm can now offer broader capabilities across areas including corporate and commercial law, property, litigation and dispute resolution, family law, criminal defence and immigration.
For the Bedfords team, the merger is about building for the future while preserving what has always mattered to us — trusted relationships, local knowledge and personal service.
Our name, our Woden presence and our commitment to our clients will continue. The merger simply gives us a broader team and greater resources to support our clients when they need them.
