So who are we?

OUR TEAM

MARK TIGWELL

Director

Mark has been a Canberra lawyer for more than 34 years and has helped thousands of people with their legal matters.  Mark’s clients appreciate his practical no nonsense results focussed advice and guidance to achieve the outcomes the client wants. Still acting for his 2nd ever client from 1984, Mark has been and continues to be a trusted adviser and confidant of several generations of many families and business owners across both the country and worldwide.

A people person, Mark strives to understand clients’ needs and goals and tailors his advice and achieves results to suit and benefit the client, not himself.

Mark is keen to share his knowledge and advice and welcomes a call ‘out of the blue’ from someone who just wants to check something or just ask a quick question.  These free chats are just part of the holistic and continuing service Mark gives to his clients during and well after their particular matter has been finished.

A keen cook and wine lover, Mark’s downtime is often spent reliving the greatest musical periods of the century, belting out versions of popular masterpieces much to the annoyance of his family and his cats, his harshest critics.

ERIN BEDFORD

Director

Erin has a decade’s experience as a lawyer.  Erin aims to get to know and work closely with clients to ascertain their goals so that she may endeavour to achieve the best possible legal outcome taking into account the commercial risks arising from any suggested course of action. Through working in this way she tries to customise each client’s experience with the law, and support them through the matter, with the aim to break the perception of many that visiting a solicitor is intimidating.  Erin aims to always produce work for each client to an excellent standard in a timely fashion.

In her spare time Erin likes to cook, spend time with family and friends and is a passionate pet owner (she has a fur child and a skin child).   She would love to do more travel and learn a language.

DONNA CLARK

Director

Donna was educated in Canberra, and after leaving school commenced working in the Public Sector before jumping across into the legal industry in 1994.  She has extensive knowledge in relation to ACT and NSW residential property matters – she has spent the last 25 years focussing on nothing else!

Donna has a genuine passion for first home owners, off-the plan purchases and Mum and Dad sales and purchases.  Donna is client focused and strives to achieve clients’ desired outcomes in a timely and cost-effective manner.  This is reflected in the consistent referral of new clients from previous clients, local real estate agents and financial brokers.

When she isn’t in the office you are most likely to find her on a mountain bike shredding one of the many local trails (and often becoming unexpectedly and unintentionally airborne) or at home with her bunnies – there are 9 of them (Bob is the favourite, but don’t tell the others!).

BRENDAN GOODGER

Director

Brendan’s career in the law started a little unusually – by studying journalism instead!  Half way through those studies he decided that career wasn’t for him (during a particularly memorable ethics lecture on the topic of ‘death knocks’), and so after graduation shifted his focus to law.

Brendan is dedicated to providing a highly personalised level of service and helping clients achieve their objectives by taking the time to understand each deal and its specific nuances.  This approach has seen him establish trusted and long-lasting commercial relationships with many of his clients.

When assisting in complex negotiations with other parties, he brings a problem solving and outcome-driven approach to the table to achieve the best outcome.

Outside of the office you are most likely to find Brendan on a bicycle – either on a road or mountain bike (although you are more likely to find him face down in the dirt after crashing if he was on the mountain bike) – or building models.  An avid miniature wargamer, he often has more projects on the go than he can realistically hope to finish.

HELEN RODRÍGUEZ

Lawyer

Helen worked in legal offices for many years before taking the plunge and starting her legal degree.  Her various legal support roles exposed her to the practical workings and application of the law; the lawyers she worked with and came into contact with planted a seed.  Once kernel started to sprout, Helen began her law degree as a mature aged student. Once admitted, she developed a passion for property, estate planning and deceased estate administration.  She loves helping people navigate through these areas of law – among the most common reasons people come in to contact with lawyers.  Helen strives to demystify the process and provides clients with no-nonsense practical advice and timely outcomes.

Helen also loves to share knowledge, teach and train.  This saw her take a hiatus from legal practice.  She taught law graduates at the ANU’s Legal Workshop the practical ins and outs of buying and selling houses.  While working at the ANU, she found herself helping clients at the free Legal Aid Clinic.  Her time in academia allowed her to hone and develop her skills as a lawyer.

Helen is a proud Territorian;  having grown up in the Northern Territory and then moving to Australian Capital Territory in her late 20’s.

When she isn’t in the office, you might find her walking Pepe (the Golden Retriever) around Lake Burley Griffin.  Pepe also insists that she regularly take him to his Saturday walking group outing.  A social creature you will also find her catching up with friends.  You might even see her in the kitchen baking or trying out all manner of new recipes.  She refers to her Bedfords’ colleagues and Saturday walking group as her “test kitchens”.  Sunday family lunches are legendary and another place to try new recipes!  You might also find her reading, knitting or cross-stitching.

(PS she is a fluent Spanish (Castilian) speaker)
